About The Speaker

Joseph Agyapong, PhD, P.Eng

Dr. Joesph Agyapong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Guelph. His research focuses on predictive alloy design and extreme mechanics, integrating artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and fracture mechanics to engineer metallic materials for demanding service environments.

His work emphasizes multi-principal element and high-entropy alloys, with particular attention to the links between composition, manufacturability, microstructure, and mechanical performance. By combining computational design tools with experimental characterization, he develops frameworks that enable the prediction of deformation and failure behavior under high strain rates, elevated temperatures, and complex loading conditions.

Dr. Agyapong’s research bridges alloy design, additive manufacturing, and extreme mechanical testing, with applications in aerospace, energy, transportation, and advanced manufacturing systems.

Tickets are available at the door but it is preferred if you register for this event ahead of time. Registration closes at noon on the day of the event. The earlier you register, the better as tickets may be limited later on due to vendor negotiations based on food and seat orders required a week in advance to hold an event like this. DO NOT WAIT!
